Self-owned economy and production

Community-controlled economic systems: collective ownership, local production and control over productive resources.

Transitional article 55 of Colombia's 1991 Constitution and Law 70 of 1993 recognised Black communities' right to collective ownership of the lands they have occupied ancestrally. Community councils today administer millions of collectively titled hectares in the Colombian Pacific.

Holding the title is not the same as deciding the territory's economy. This root works in the distance between the two: production models controlled by the community, value chains that do not end elsewhere, and the technical capacity to administer what is ours without depending on an intermediary.
